* Daktronics, Stansell Electric, WST and Gresham Smith partner for successful project
BROOKINGS, S.D. - Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, in collaboration with Stansell Electric, WSP and Gresham Smith, was honored with the ITS Tennessee Project of Significance, awarded May 16 at the ITS Tennessee Annual Meeting held at Vanderbilt University.
The submission showcased two projects, highlighting the expertise of each entity, including Daktronics' excellence in replacing 62 Dynamic Messages Signs (DMS) across Middle Tennessee and East Tennessee. The projects were executed through close collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). The teams worked together on coordination, testing, troubleshooting and traffic control plans.
"Daktronics was able to deliver and support Stansell Electric throughout the projects, including the expedited installation schedule," said Michael Standley, Daktronics project manager. "Stansell Electric needed to get these projects completed quickly. Our Daktronics team was able to work closely with them to deliver on deadline."
The replacement Daktronics displays are an upgrade to full-color, high-resolution Dynamic Message Signs. The DMS have increased messaging capabilities such as graphics and image-posting. The enhanced technology allows for brighter and clearer information provided in real time to travelers, enhancing safety on the roadway by offering timely messages in constantly changing conditions.
