Deutsche Boerse AG said Friday that it submitted an offer for the acquisition of Italy's Borsa Italiana SpA from London Stock Exchange Group PLC.

"We are offering a high value for the future growth and development of an autonomous Borsa Italiana Group, thereby strengthening its crucial role for the Italian economy and the European capital markets," the German stock-exchange operator said.

No financial details were provided.

The news came after stock-market operator Euronext NV said earlier on Friday that it was in talks with Italian lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti to submit a joint bid for Borsa Italiana.
