DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) supply chain executive council (SCEC) recently honored four companies by bestowing them with supplier excellence awards for their outstanding performance and dedication to DRS. The company announced the winners and distributed the awards during its annual SCEC conference.

The supplier excellence awards were divided into four categories. The categories include: the Interconnect Award, the Hardware Award, the Circuit Card Assemblies Award, and the Small Business Award.

The four winning companies included: Interstate Connecting Components, Inc. based in Moorestown, New Jersey received the Interconnect Award, Electronic Fasteners, Inc. based in Sanford, Florida received the Hardware Award, Jabil Defense & Aerospace Services based in St. Petersburg, Florida received the Circuit Card Assemblies Award, and TJK Products based in Islip Terrace, New York received the Small Business Award.

The SCEC was established in April 2004. It is a corporate-driven peer group directed by Al Moran, vice president of DRS' strategic supply chain initiatives, and consists of 14 employees from the company's four business segments, and the corporate headquarters' contracts and compliance, legal, and finance departments.

This is DRS' first time presenting supplier excellence awards. The council's commodity buying groups (CBG) were implemented approximately two years ago. Since then the CBGs have regularly met and evaluated the company's supply chain programs and suppliers.

The SCEC chose the winners based on detailed data concerning product quality, product on-time delivery, customer service, and overall business feedback from the company's manufacturing facilities.

?These awards are intended to congratulate those very special and high performing companies that help DRS deliver crucial and significant products and systems to America's warfighters and homeland defense agencies,? said Moran. ?These forces rely on our commitment to provide them with fair-priced, quickly-deliverable, quality services. These four companies are in sync with the corporation's supply chain initiatives and high standards and are true strategic partners."
