DTE Energy CEO offers statement of support for Michigan's first-of-its-kind carbon credit program by DTE Energy

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Governor Whitmer announced a new carbon credit plan supporting more than 100,000 acres of forestland at the Pigeon River Country State Forest in the northern Lower Peninsula. Michigan's 20 million acres of forest are a natural carbon capturing asset.

"We fully support the recent announcement made by Michigan's DNR to establish a carbon credit program while sustainably managing Michigan's forests," said Jerry Norcia, DTE Energy president and CEO. "DTE is committed to a carbon neutral future and we recognize that many solutions will need to come to bear in order to accomplish this goal. Wind, solar, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, bio-sequestration, among additional solutions, will play an important role as our country works to reverse climate change. We congratulate the Governor and her administration for this great move forward."
