There is a yawning gap between Twitter boss Elon Musk's word and the facts about advertisers on the messaging service. Musk is not telling the truth, if the figures from a digital consulting firm are correct.

In fact, the American company Ebiquity works for 70 of the 100 largest advertisers in the US. The marketing consultant asked them about their activities on Twitter. It turns out that only two of those companies still run advertising campaigns on the service that also allows itself to be called X.

This contradicts the words of CEO Linda Yaccarino and owner Elon Musk. They have been flaunting the claim for months that ninety percent of former advertisers at Twitter have already returned or at least promised their return. Their words seem worth little with the new figures in hand.

A year ago, 31 of Ebiquity' s top clients were still advertising on Twitter. Now not even a handful, the company told Business Insider.

Twitter says in a response that those 90 percent returned advertisers are about its top clients, not America's largest. The play on words does not alter the perception that Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino still have hard work to do if they are to return to structural black numbers.
