Madrid, July 28, 2017: The Board of Directors of the Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) has appointed Rocío Sicre Del Rosal, the General Director of EDP Renewables in Spain, as its new Chair. Up until now, she served as the Vice-Chairwoman of the association representing EDPR Europe. AEE's chair is a rotating position. Sicre will replace Juan Diego Díaz Vega, who will return to his position as Vice-Chairman representing Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

Sicre holds a degree in business administration from the University College of Financial Studies (CUNEF). She has focused on renewable energies throughout her career as a specialist in energy and finance policy, first at the former Unión Fenosa Energías Especiales, where she held various positions in the area of economic law until being named Finance Director in 2001. Later, she worked with Grupo Hidrocantábrico (now part of EDP), where she led the structured finance area. While at Grupo Hidrocantábrico, Sicre led the financial area of EDPR until her 2008 appointment as General Director of EDPR in Spain, the position she continues to hold today.

In Sicre's words, 'The wind energy market in Spain has reached a crucial point once again. We at AEE need to work hard in partnership with all stakeholders to underscore the need and importance of supporting consolidated, efficient technology that creates jobs and contributes to a sustainable future for Spain. This appointment is a personal and professional challenge that I'm looking forward to taking on.'
