Barcelona, 6 October 2020. - eDreams ODIGEO, Europe's largest online travel company, and one of the largest European e-commerce businesses, has added Covid-19 coverage to its insurance offering. This launch is the latest customer-centric innovation from the company and has been designed to offer customers peace of mind when booking their future travel journeys. eDreams ODIGEO's new insurance coverage will allow customers to confidently book with their airline and hotel partners via eDreams ODIGEO's four leading online travel agency brands - eDreams, GO Voyages, Opodo and Travellink.

A recent survey* of 10,000 adults, commissioned by eDreams ODIGEO, found that 60% of travellers would need a guaranteed refund for travel and accommodation if their travel was cancelled due to Covid-19 before committing to book a trip abroad. eDreams ODIGEO's enhanced insurance offering will cover customers when cancelling their bookings for several reasons related to Covid-19. This includes being infected by Covid-19, and a requirement to quarantine prior to departure. In addition, overseas medical and assistance expenses for contracting Covid-19 abroad are covered, alongside expenses incurred at a destination due to changes to lockdown and quarantine as a result of infection. This wide-ranging policy will also cover travellers if members of their household contract Covid-19, and if the traveller is required to self-isolate.

For customers needing to make a claim, customers can cancel their booking via eDreams ODIGEO's recently upgraded Manage my Booking section of the website. Once the booking cancellation has been confirmed, customers will then be able to raise a claim and process their refunds via the insurance provider.

On average the insurance provider is processing claims within four days of receipt of all required documentation. Customers wishing to make a claim via phone can reach the insurance policy provider quickly with 85% of calls answered within 30 seconds.
