KARLSRUHE (dpa-AFX) - The CEO of the energy supplier EnBW, Andreas Schell, has unexpectedly resigned from office. The Supervisory Board approved this decision at an extraordinary meeting, the company announced in Karlsruhe on Friday. The main reason for this was a difference of opinion between the Supervisory Board and Schell on key strategic development issues. Schell did not take up his position as EnBW CEO until November 2022, with a contract term of three years. Georg Stamatelopoulos, member of the Board of Management, will now take over as CEO.

Lutz Feldmann, Chairman of the EnBW Supervisory Board, commented on Schell's departure: "We regret this step, which is being taken by mutual agreement." Despite intensive discussions, it had not been possible to reach an agreement in recent months.

Stamatelopoulos is currently responsible for the "Sustainable Generation Infrastructure" division on the energy company's Executive Board. According to the information provided, he has been appointed Chairman of the Executive Board until the end of his current appointment, i.e. until May 31, 2029./jwe/DP/nas
