Boosting the "Winter Olympic Blue"

The highly awaited 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing have officially begun, and the air quality in Beijing has been maintained at a good or even excellent level since the opening of the Games. This is the result of the hard work of countless people involved in environmental protection! ENVEA, through its subsidiary ENVEA China Ltd, is very honoured to cooperate with Beijing Saak-mar Environmental Instrument Co. to provide mobile source cruise monitoring solutions, technical support and important data for air quality forecasting and evaluation.

We humbly do our best to boost "Winter Olympic Blue"!

The study shows that at present, mobile sources account for about 46% of the local sources of fine particle (PM2.5) air pollution in Beijing. Therefore, the control of traffic-related pollution has become a priority for environmental monitoring and prevention policy development. The main component of PM2.5 emitted directly from mobile sources is soot (black carbon), and nitrogen oxides are pollutants related to truck and vehicle traffic. Therefore, special attention has been given to black carbon, nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the mobile pollutant monitoring program.

Throughout the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the air quality is intensively monitored in various sensitive areas, including Beijing's ring roads and motorways, and especially during peak traffic periods (morning, evening and night). This surveillance provides important input for environmental protection actions during the Winter Olympics.

The Chemiluminescence Nitric Oxide (AC32e) and Cavity Attenuated Phase Shift (CAPS) Nitrogen Dioxide (AS32M) analyzers provided by ENVEA and installed in mobile air quality monitoring laboratories are used to continuously measure pollution in the Chinese capital. Thanks to their very high measurement accuracy, their second-level data refresh, small size, light weight and low power consumption (they can even be powered by a 24V source), they can be flexibly adapted to a variety of mobile monitoring applications, roadside AAQMS stations and micro-stations.
