(Alliance News) - ESI Spa on Wednesday announced that Pietro Colucci, a board member, has resigned with immediate effect.

"The decision is in no way related to the progress of the Genovese investigation, for which Colucci has not received any notice or charges to date, but to the wide prominence given to his position in the national press. "The support for the 'Let's Change' movement, which took place in 2016/19, that is, almost five years from now, was carried out when Colucci had no position in ESI, he felt, therefore, a moral obligation to keep the company unharmed by any involvement," the released note reads.

"The resignation is an act of due deference and respect to shareholders, colleagues, investors and all stakeholders, as well as an act of due regard to the Investigating Authority," ESI wrote in the memo.

ESI closed Wednesday's session in the red by 0.9 percent at EUR1.72 per share
