Every day on the world's roads more than 500 children are killed and thousands more are injured. With over 90,000 trucks on these roads, safety is of the utmost importance to FedEx. Over the last 16 years, more than 16,000 FedEx volunteers have teamed up with Safe Kids Worldwide in ten countries to share road safety messages with more than 13 million children.

In the US, 44 children are hit by cars every day. On Oct. 7, International Walk to School Day, FedEx supported Safe Kids Worldwide events at more than 550 schools across the US.

In Anchorage, Alaska, more than 20 FedEx Express volunteers joined hundreds of schoolchildren at Northwood ABC Elementary, at a Safe Kids Alaska 'Walk This Way' event to help promote pedestrian safety and the importance of creating safer routes for walking and bicycling.

Despite rainy weather, event volunteers from FedEx, Safe Kids Alaska, and participating agencies served as crossing guards and student walking group escorts. FedEx Express drivers and managers provided truck safety education and truck tours to students. Volunteers also hosted a reflective fashion show.

FedEx volunteers were joined in Alaska by Clifford the Big Red Dog as they welcomed kids to school and handed out reflective gear to help keep kids safe on their walk to school. The passion that FedEx team members have for safety shined through in their desire to share safety messages with kids throughout the US and around the world.

In October of every year, millions of children from countries around the world participate in events celebrating International Walk to School Day.
