FedEx Corp.'s FedEx Express said it has begun shipping the newly authorized Covid-19 vaccine on behalf of healthcare supply chain management company McKesson Corp. to dosing centers throughout the U.S.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Saturday issued an emergency use authorization for the Covid-19 vaccine from Johnson & Johnson's Janssen. The EUA allows the Janssen Covid-19 Vaccine to be distributed in the U.S for use in individuals 18 years of age and older.

FedEx shares were up 3% to $261.52 in morning trading and McKesson shares were up 3% to $173.73.

FedEx said Monday it has shipped millions of Covid-19 vaccines since U.S. distribution began in mid-December 2020 and is prepared to scale up to accommodate anticipated growth in vaccine volume throughout the spring and summer.

FedEx Express will transport the new Covid-19 vaccines and kits of supplies for administration of the vaccine using its FedEx Priority Overnight service and FedEx Priority Alert monitoring.
