PLÖN (dpa-AFX) - Several hundred guests are expected to attend a funeral service for the honorary citizen of Schleswig-Holstein, Günther Fielmann, at Ploner Schloss on Friday (12.00 noon). Fielmann was the founder of the optician chain of the same name. According to the company, he died on January 3 at the age of 84 in his home town of Lütjensee (Stormarn district). The guests of honor include Schleswig-Holstein's Minister President Daniel Günther and the President of the State Parliament Kristina Herbst (both CDU).

In addition to a representative of the Fielmann Management Board, Prime Minister Günther will also speak. In addition to family members, friends and companions, representatives from business, politics, church, science and culture are also expected among the guests of honor. According to the company, the guest list includes around 250 long-standing employees who have worked particularly closely with the founder.

In a large heated tent in front of the castle, interested citizens can follow a broadcast of the funeral service from the Knights' Hall. Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) has ordered all authorities and offices in Schleswig-Holstein to fly their flags at half-mast on Friday./moe/DP/jha
