The Korean Airport Cooperation (KAC) undertakes a major modernisation of its communication capabilities. The new system provides KAC with the best performance and reliability on the market. In close cooperation with the Korean company IB Leaders, KAC has successfully put into operation the Aeronautical Message Handling (AMHS) switch from Frequentis Comsoft.

The fully redundant and virtualised solution increases the communication capability and fully supports the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) basic and extended AMHS service profiles and establishing international connections The system is located at Gimpo International Airport, headquarters of KAC and part of the busiest route in the world (Seoul Gimpo to Jeju). Along with the market-leading message handling system, the solution includes a range of other solutions to support the central supervision of all system components, as well as the network directory service CADIR. The redundancy concept allows for a full redundancy of all components without a single point of failure.

The market-leading solution from Frequentis Comsoft is also the major AMHS system in the Asia-Pacific region. The solution for KAC will support international cooperation as most neighbouring countries with direct data connections also use Frequentis Comsoft's message handling system. It continues the unprecedented history of continued ATM improvements in the Asia-Pacific region which was marked in 2011 by the regions first ever operational AMHS connection, between Singapore and India, both also using the same solution.
