Good Energy has launched a new tariff to support the rapid growth of electric vehicles, making it even easier for customers to charge their cars using truly renewable electricity.

The Good Energy Standard (Smart EV) tariff offers an off-peak rate of 9.41p/kWh from midnight until 4.59am for customers paying by direct debit. Peak rates start at 34.63p/kWh and vary by region.

Customers need to have a smart meter to access the off-peak rates, for which the company can arrange free installation.

As a version of the company's Standard Variable Tariff (SVT) the tariff is variable rather than fixed to ensure it remains fairly priced.

It also offers gas rates for customers looking for dual fuel with Good Energy's greener gas, which is 10% biogas and 100% carbon offset.

There is no exit fee, meaning people have the flexibility to switch to another tariff or supplier at any time.

Power is backed by Good Energy's community of more than 2,000 independent generators across the UK, including solar farms, wind turbines and hydroelectric projects.

Good Energy chief executive Nigel Pocklington said: "Our customers already enjoy powering their homes and businesses from renewable sources, but we want to encourage the transition to cleaner and greener transport too.

"Alongside our expansion into the installation of heat pumps and solar panels, the reintroduction of an EV tariff is part of our mission to make it even easier to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle.
