Good Energy is joint top of this year's Which? league table on the sustainability of energy suppliers.

The renewable energy company has been awarded the Eco Provider endorsement by the UK's most popular consumer association for the second year in succession.

It recognises Good Energy's commitment to providing 100 per cent renewable electricity to its customers, provided by a network of small independent generators across the UK.

Which? examined the claims of more than 20 energy companies, asking them about their practices in buying renewable electricity and green gas.

Good Energy and two other companies scored the highest, with an overall score of 75 per cent.

Good Energy achieved the maximum points for transparency and clarity and was the only company to score the maximum points for matching customers' power with renewable generation.

Good Energy chief executive Nigel Pocklington said: "Which? is the UK's consumer champion, so it's a great achievement to be joint top of this table.

"It's particularly important in combating the scourge of 'greenwashing' where some companies' environmental boasts fail to match up to reality.

"We help people to play their part in tackling the climate crisis by providing 100 per cent renewable energy for their homes and businesses, sourced from a UK network of 1,700 generators including solar farms, wind farms, biogeneration and hydroelectric projects.

"The Which? Eco Provider endorsement clearly demonstrates our genuine commitment to powering a cleaner and greener future."
