Ms. Liana Gouta assumes the position of Director General at the European Fuel Manufacturers Association

Ms. Liana Gouta, Group Director Energy Policy and International Affairs at HELLENiQ ENERGY, has been appointed as the Director General of the European Fuel Manufacturers Association.

The decision was made by the Board of Directors and the General Assembly of the Association and was officially announced today. Ms. Gouta will assume her duties starting from January 1st, 2024, and her tenure will span a period of three years.

The European Fuel Manufacturers Association represents the interests of 39 companies engaged in the production and distribution of liquid fuels and transportation-related products, as well as in the production and distribution of energy and raw materials for the industry across Europe.

The European Fuel Manufacturers Association comprises of two divisions:

- FuelsEurope, which advocates for the industry's interests within European institutions
- Concawe, the association's scientific division with a 60-year history.

HELLENiQ ENERGY actively and continuously participates in both divisions of the Association, thereby significantly contributing to the advancement of the industry's goals.

In his statement, HELLENiQ ENERGY Deputy CEO and Executive Member of the Board of Directors, Mr. George Alexopoulos, emphasized: "This is a significant accomplishment both for our colleague, Liana Gouta, whom we wish great success in her new responsibilities and for HELLENiQ ENERGY. We have been among the Association's most engaged members for a number of years, therefore I would say that our continued active participation is justified. We are at the forefront of developments, actively shaping positions and policies, with our strategy focused on green transition and internationalization. During this pivotal time for the energy sector, the European fossil fuel industry is called upon to undergo a complete transformation attesting to its value for support by embracing innovative and affordable low-carbon solutions to ultimately achieve climate neutrality by 2050."

Liana Gouta has more than 30 years of experience in the Greek oil industry. She has high professional training and many years of experience in positions of responsibility at HELLENiQ ENERGY, and since March 2014, she has held the position of Director Energy Policy and International Affairs of the Group. At the same time, she participated in the Boards of Directors of the European Fuel Manufacturers Association (FuelsEurope & Concawe) and the European eFuel Alliance for Synthetic Fuels.
