Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. announced that its TZ1000 Application Processor Lite series of processors for wearable and Internet of Things devices is being deployed in the new Helo smart wristband from World Media & Technology Corp. (Wor(l)d). The ApP Lite TZ1000 integrates Bluetooth® low energy (LE) wireless communication, an ARM® cortex®-M4F processor, and Flash memory in a single compact package. When active in Helo, it enables high-precision detection and collection of a user's vital-sign data, utilizing its low-power Bluetooth functionality to relay the data to the user's smartphone. Wor(l)d's Helo smart wristband is designed to continuously monitor and analyze heart rate, blood pressure and respiration, and send the data wirelessly to a connected app on the wearer's smartphone. This is intended to allow users to maintain a history of vital statistics and activity over time, and give authorized healthcare providers access to the aggregated, anonymized data via the cloud.
