German speciality-chemicals company Altana said Monday that it has acquired Henkel AG & Co. KGaA's closure-materials business for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of the German consumer-goods company's closure-materials business entails the takeover of technologies and customer relationships and will strengthen Altana's range of PVC-free sealants for the packaging industry, the company said. The business will be integrated into Altana's ACTEGA division.

The two companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price, Altana said.
