Henkel AG & Co. KgaA said Wednesday that it expects sales growth in the first quarter of 2021 significantly above market expectations, based on preliminary figures.

The German consumer-goods company said it expects organic sales growth in the first quarter to be around 7%, which it said it "significantly" above the current market expectation of 3.5% growth.

It said that its adhesive technology business is expected to achieve an organic sales growth of around 12.5%, based on preliminary figures. Its beauty care business is set to post organic sales growth of around 1%, on the other hand, as it remains affected by pandemic-related headwinds.

As for Henkel's laundry and home care unit, the company said it is expected to show 3.5% growth for the quarter.

Henkel is set to provide further details with its first-quarter statement on May 6, it said.
