(Alliance News) - Hera Spa announced Monday that a new cogeneration plant will be built at Cafar in Gatteo later this year for decarbonization and energy efficiency by Hera Servizi Energia, the group's ESCo.

The plant will be able to produce 12,000 MWh/year of electricity, or 80 percent of the plant's total needs, and 6,600 MW of hot water, or 89 percent.

"In the current environmental, climatic and high energy price context, the only solution to meet the challenge is to create concrete projects between utility companies and the production system, helping to further accelerate the energy transition in the name of sustainability. With this in mind, the partnership between Hera Servizi Energia, the energy service company of the Hera Group, and the Martini Group continues for the decarbonization and energy efficiency of the production sites of the leading food and livestock company," reads the released note.

Hera trades down 0.3 percent at EUR2.97 per share.
