(Alliance News) - Highcroft Investments PLC on Tuesday said it appointed Paul Leaf-Wright as its new chief executive officer, effective from Sunday last week.

The appointment comes as former CEO Simon Gill stepped down from the England and Wales-focused real estate investor on the same day, although Gill will remain as an executive director until the end of March.

Leaf-Wright established Leaf Capital in 2004, a firm which focuses on property, private equity and corporate finance, and he is the company's chair. He also co-founded Atlantic Leaf Properties Ltd in 2013, a UK real estate investment trust that invests in industrial assets in the UK, and he was the company's CEO until June last year.

Previously, Leaf-Wright held senior roles in South African banking companies, including financial and strategy director, head of treasury, director of property and asset finance and head of wealth management.

Highcroft Investments also appointed Cube Management Ltd to provide property management advisory services to the company. Leaf-Wright has an effective beneficial shareholding of 20% in Cube Management.

"I joined Highcroft because I could see the great potential in the company and aim to continue its solid performance to deliver growth. I will work with Simon on a seamless transition over the coming months," Leaf-Wright said.

Shares in Highcroft Investments closed down 3.1% to 912.55 pence on Tuesday afternoon in London.
