JBS S.A. (BOVESPA:JBSS3) is believed to be making efforts to embark on an acquisition of Huon Aquaculture Group Limited (ASX:HUO), only weeks after buying Riverlea. Huon announced on February 26 that it had launched a strategic review after receiving approaches for the business. Grant Samuel and Ashurst are working on the strategic review.

Huon, which has a market value of about $300 million and a share price of about $2.75, has been offering due diligence to a select group of interested parties to determine whether they are able to come up with an offer. DataRoom understands that JBS is among the groups considering an acquisition. Final bids are due on July 27.

A private equity firm is also looking, and some are pointing to Pacific Equity Partners after it earlier tried to buy rival Tassal.
