- Number of seats reduced to 65%, all-hours remote work, and a self-determined seating system using kiosks and mobile devices

- Cloud-based work environment established, cafés and resting areas built in the office to improve communication culture

Hyundai Elevator (CEO: Song Seung-Bong) revealed on the 15th that the company is setting up smart offices on all floors of their Seoul office in the Hyundai Group Building (Yeonji-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul) and implementing an all-hours remote work system.

Immediately after the COVID-19 outbreak, Hyundai Elevator began operating a remote work system to protect its employees and executives and to ensure a stable management environment. The company, which has been in the process of gradually implementing a cloud-based work system since last year, recently completed the first stage in establishing smart offices (2 floors) and plans to create an environment where more than 40% of all employees can work remotely even after COVID-19 by the 19th of next month.

The Hyundai Elevator smart offices reduced their number of seats to about 65% but established cafés and resting areas in the office to improve communication between office members. Individual can freely select seats from a variety of different types such as table-type, bar-type, and group seats using a kiosk or a mobile app. The conference rooms, which were expanded from 9 seats to 16 seats, have systems such as Smart TVs and video cameras to enable virtual video conferences. Hyundai Elevator plans to establish the same system in the Chungju Smart Campus to which they will relocate next February.

CEO Song Seung-Bong stated "We implemented smart offices to actively respond to changes in our society caused by COVID-19 and to establish a sustainable management environment," adding "This will also help significantly in increasing the work-life balance for employees by providing a free working environment."
