Gakken Holdings Co., Ltd. (TSE:9470) signed a share transfer contract to acquire additional 12.44% stake in Ichishin Holdings Co., Ltd. (JASDAQ:4645) from Akebono No Jimusho Co., Ltd. and individual shareholder for approximately ¥540 million on March 22, 2017. Under the terms, Gakken will acquire 1.3 million shares of Ichishin. The deal is expected to close in early May 2017.
ICHISHIN HOLDINGS CO.,LTD. is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the education-related business. The Company is engaged in the operation of cram schools in Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa for infants, elementary and junior high school students, and senior high school students. It is also engaged in the video business for corporations and the production and sale of content in the education and medical markets. It also manages and operates early childhood education business, schoolchild childcare business and residential type elderly nursing homes. The main cram school brands are ICHISHIN Gakuin, ICHISHIN Yobiko, Taro Juku, Tokyo Gakuen, Edo Culture Center, Ando Juku, MANA. The schoolchild care brands are Nanakara and Miraie International School. The nursing care business brands are Yuyuvillage Hamura and Yuyuvillage Akishima.
