IMC completed harvesting of sunflower and sowing of winter wheat

The end of the first decade of October at IMC coincided with the end of sunflower harvesting and winter wheat sowing.

Sunflower was harvested from an area of 25.8 thousand hectares, more than 90 thousand tonnes were harvested, the average yield was 3.5 t/ha, which is the second best result in the history of the company, and 84% higher than the average sunflower yield in Ukraine (according to the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, as of 24.09.2020 the yield of sunflower in Ukraine was 1.9 t/ha).

Winter wheat was sown on an area of 21.4 thousand hectares, which corresponds to the area planned for sowing of this crop in line with the approved crop rotation.

"We are satisfied with the results of sunflower harvesting. Despite a number of unfavorable factors (coronavirus and the quarantine restrictions caused by it, colossal moisture deficit during almost the entire growing season, specific temperature regimes in critical phases of crop development), but thanks to the right technology and timely field operations (especially for crop protection and fertilization), we have harvested sunflower with the yield at the level of the best, most favorable years.

As for the autumn sowing for the harvest of 2021, the tested varieties of winter wheat of foreign selection, sowing with highly productive seeders in the optimal time, as well as precipitation that passed over most areas after sowing, give us confidence that our company will continue to be the leader on wheat yield in our regions", - said IMC's Chief Operating Officer Oleksandr Verzhykhovskyi.
