IMI plc announced that Jamie Pike will be appointed as Chair of the IMI Board and the Nomination Committee with effect from 1 January 2025 following a comprehensive selection process and as part of its orderly succession planning activities. Lord Smith of Kelvin will seek re-election at the 2024 Annual General Meeting to facilitate a smooth transition and will step down from the Board on 31 December 2024. Lord Smith joined the Board in 2015.

Jamie joined Burmah Castrol in 1991 and was Chief Executive of Burmah Castrol Chemicals before leading the buy-out of Foseco in 2001 and its subsequent flotation in 2005. Prior to joining Burmah, he was a partner at Bain & Company. Jamie was educated at Oxford, holds an MBA from INSEAD and is a Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

He has previously held roles as Chair of Cobham plc and RPC Group plc. Jamie currently holds the positions of Chair of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc and Chair of XP Power Limited. As previously announced by Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, Jamie will be standing down from that position during 2024 following the expiry of his nine years as a director.
