[Re: Ince Group: The law firm collapse that has rocked London's legal sector, Nov 2] The collapse of Ince Group serves as a sobering reminder that cybersecurity can no longer be an afterthought for organizations. As cyber threats grow more advanced, companies that fail to prioritize cyber protections are quickly becoming sitting ducks.

Far too many organizations operate with inadequate cybersecurity, leaving them vulnerable to cybercriminals. Email, for example, is one of the top attack vectors, yet protection tools such as email authentication are not widely adopted.

Previous research we completed last year showed that only 4% of insurers are adequately protected against phishing. Other sectors prevalent within The City are not faring much better. Law firms, insurers, banks, etc. possess highly sensitive client information, making them prime targets. Yet, cybersecurity is often an afterthought.

Industry leaders should view these events as a wake-up call. Threats will only grow more sophisticated. To avoid becoming the next cautionary tale, organizations must elevate cybersecurity and governance in the priority list. Professional services firms owe it to clients and employees to strengthen resilience before the axe falls.
