Trenitalia c2c has made online shopping easier this Christmas by welcoming InPost's popular automated parcel machines to Rainham station.

InPost users don't need to stay at home for a delivery, make arrangements with a neighbour or collect during specific opening hours. They simply use a QR code, provided to their phone by InPost, to open the locker at a convenient time.

The lockers can also be used to return items to more than 150 retailers. There is no need to print a label - InPost simply sends a QR code to the customer's phone, which is scanned at the locker. The compartment pops open and the customer puts the parcel in.

c2c's B2B and Partnerships Manager, Ben Shipton said: 'We are delighted to be installing our first InPost locker on the c2c route.

'As consumers are increasingly looking for a fast, secure and convenient delivery and returns option, this will be particularly useful for people using our stations and the local community, especially during the busy Christmas shopping period.

'If this trial is successful, we will look at installing more InPost lockers at other stations across the route.'

The new InPost lockers are located in Rainham station's car park and can be accessed 24hrs, seven days a week from Monday 18 December.
