She was recognized in the November 2013 issue of the publication.

An IPC hospitalist since 2007, Dr. Shumway was promoted two years later to IPC Practice Group Leader for HCA's Methodist Stone Oak Hospital practice group. The Fellowship, a unique partnership between IPC and the University of California, San Francisco Division of Hospital Medicine, is an intensive one-year training and education program designed to develop hospitalist leadership skills, with the goal of improving the quality of patient care and the efficiency of the healthcare delivery system.

"We are very proud that Dr. Shumway has been honored by ACP Hospitalist as one of the country's preeminent hospitalists," said Adam Singer, M.D., chairman and CEO of IPC. "A natural-born leader and mentor to her practice, Dr. Shumway exemplifies IPC's core values of teamwork and professionalism.
