WASHINGTON, April 24 (Reuters) - Brazilian reinsurance company IRB Brasil Resseguros SA has entered into a non-prosecution agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and agreed to pay $5 million in victim compensation to resolve a securities fraud probe, the DOJ said on Monday.

The government's investigation focused on an alleged scheme to fraudulently prop up the company's stock price by spreading false information that U.S. investment firm Berkshire Hathaway Inc had invested in IRB Brasil, the Justice Department said in a statement.
