iSOFT Clinical Solutions Certified by Mexican Healthcare GeneralSecretariatBanbury – 16 September 2011: iSOFT, a CSC company, announces that its electronic health record systems for primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare have successfully obtained the NOM-24 certification, obtaining the highest rating amongst all the solutions certified by the Mexican Secretariat of Health’s Directorate General of Health Information.

In September 2010, the Mexican Secretariat of Health’s Directorate General of Health Information published NOM-24, a set of standards which must be met by any information system used in the Mexican healthcare sphere. NOM-24 is a regulatory framework establishing the functional requirements and objectives which must be met by electronic health records systems. The framework is intended to guarantee the interoperability, processing, interpretation, confidentiality, security, use of standards and catalogues of the information contained in electronic health records. The standards are mandatory for any public or private bid.

In March 2011, an open call was made for providers to validate and certify their solutions as NOM-24 compliant. Following the publication of NOM-24 in September 2010, iSOFT had worked on adapting its solutions for clinical primary, secondary and tertiary care records to be compliant in all areas subject to certification (outpatient care, hospitalization, emergency, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging and operating room). iSOFT’s solutions passed the evaluation with a score of 97 out of 100, the highest score of all the certified solutions. This result was officially published in July 2011 on the official web site of the Mexican Secretariat of Health’s Directorate General of Health Information:

In addition, in 2008, iSOFT’s information system for hospitals was the first in Mexico to pass the tests for interoperability with SIGHO HIS, developed by the Universidad de Sinaloa at Culiacán. This interoperability constitutes a basic requirement for participation in the Mexican national project “Connected Clinical History”, making iSOFT the first company in Mexico to provide compatible and interoperable hospital information systems, whilst also satisfying the national needs and requirements applicable to an entire region.

Guillermo Ramas, Managing Director of iSOFT for Southern Europe and Latin America, states: “The success in obtaining the NOM-24 certification represents a great victory for us, since it reaffirms the flexible and interoperable capacity of our solutions to adapt themselves to the requirements of any health system. At the same time, it also reinforces our position in the Mexican market, where we continue to have success and are sure to keep growing. We will continue working to finish adapting our solution and to be in full compliance with the needs of the Mexican Healthcare General Secretariat”.
