Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: FUJITA Masahiro) has decided to invest in a specialized fund, the "ANRI-GREEN No.1," for the issues of climate change and environment, which has established and is managed by an independent venture capital fund ANRI (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Partner: SAMATA Anri.)
ANRI is a venture capital company with strengths for the investments to start-up companies in the seed- to -early stages. And then, the "ANRI-GREEN No.1" is a specialized fund established by ANRI in 2022, aiming to support medium- to -long-term technology developments for realizing carbon neutrality and targeting mainly the Industry-University collaboration projects in the seed- to -early stage.
JAPEX sets the contribution for realizing carbon neutrality by 2050 as our basic policy in the "JAPEX Management Plan 2022-2030" formulated in March 2022. Based on this policy, we are making efforts to consider our priority items: participating in more renewable energy projects, considering implementing CO2 underground storage technologies such as CCS*1/CCUS*2, and pursuing establishing hub & cluster-type*3 CO2 networks collaborating with companies that utilize CO2.
For the contribution to realize carbon neutrality, we recognize that obtaining advanced insights and wider collaboration with companies and organizations are required, in addition to our existing technologies and experiences through our main businesses. Therefore, in order to gain useful information and collaboration opportunities with wider companies to drive our business, we decided to invest in the "ANRI-GREEN No.1" fund at this time.
The outline of the "ANRI-GREEN No.1" fund is as below. The amount and ratio of our investment in this fund is not disclosed.
Total Amount: About 10 billion yen for final target
Operation Period: 12 years (Extension possible for up to 3 years)
Investment Area: Photovoltaic/Wind Power Generation, Storage Battery, Hydrogen/Ammonia, CCUS/DAC*4, Artificial Photosynthesis/Nuclear Fusion, and others

JAPEX will contribute to realizing a carbon-neutral society and pursue supplying diverse energies for the times, aiming for further growth as a "Comprehensive Energy Company."
