Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, and Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, visited the Republic of Kazakhstan.

They discussed strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan in trade and economic, industrial and technological spheres.

During the visit, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, noted that Tatarstan holds a prominent place in comprehensive relationship with the Russian Federation and is a leader among Russian regions in terms of economic, industrial and technological cooperation with Kazakhstan. For 11 months of 2021, mutual turnover made 423 million US dollars. The striking example of the countries' successful cooperation is implementation of mechanical engineering projects jointly with KAMAZ PTC.

During the working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, and Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, attended the company's Akmolinsky auto center. The parties discussed expansion of the product range at the facilities of KAMAZ's authorized dealer in Kazakhstan.

The guests examined the auto center, a warehouse and a mounting center for special vehicles. In 2021, the facilities were modernized, and the warehouse was expanded. This year, KAMAZ plans to widen the range of the company's Akmolinsky auto center greatly, also adding to it vehicles of the K5 generation.

For now, the auto giant's products are sold to Kazakhstan mainly via the company's own distribution network. For 9 months of 2021, KAMAZ's share on the market of new trucks in Kazakhstan reached 42% (1,068 units).

'By tradition, Kazakhstan is a top-priority export market for KAMAZ. The global auto industry shows that access to any market depends on an auto producer's willingness to localize a product, creating jobs and developing local competence. We have the best service network for truck maintenance covering almost the whole territory of Kazakhstan,' said Sergey Kogogin.

KAMAZ's production and service network in the Republic of Kazakhstan includes an assembly, a trading company, 18 service centers and 28 dealers of vehicles and spare parts. Within the last three years, two mounting centers for special vehicle production were modernized. It is planned to build two service centers in Kostanay and Atyrau.

Besides, the company's top manager Sergey Kogogin familiarized himself with the progress of joint projects in the Republic. Nowadays, Russia's top truck manufacturer KAMAZ PTC is implementing three large-scale projects in Kazakhstan. They include construction of an iron casting plant in the industrial zone of Kostanay, with an area of over 30 thous. square meters. Construction works are under way there. Serial production is to be launched in the second half-year of 2024. The same industrial zone will host a plant for production of final drives with a capacity of about 74 thousand units. Besides, the company is forcing localization of driving axle housings. 'Both plants are being built based on the world's best practices with a focus on cutting-edge solutions of green production and global environmental protection standards,' stressed Sergey Kogogin.

Kazakhstan will host the production of cylinder blocks and cylinder heads for all engines used by KAMAZ. The main components of drive axles for all types of KAMAZ vehicles - final drives and axle beams - will also be produced there. The volume of casting production is up to 45 thous. tonnes per year. About 74 thous. final drives will be produced every year.

The production will use available up-to-date technologies of global engineering. The foundry will use induction melting and high-precision core molding technologies. The final drive production will master machining and heat treatment of final drive components, precision stamping of shafts, axial molding and toothing.

'Almost 100% of products will be exported to satisfy the needs of KAMAZ and other producers of vehicles and agricultural equipment. It is safe to say that the Kazakh production will be integrated into a global technological supply network. All KAMAZ vehicles will have components produced in Kazakhstan. Such competitive projects should become the pivot of economic life both of Kazakhstan and of the whole EAEU. I am sure they will make cooperation ties between our countries even stronger, supporting traditional synergy of joint development for our citizens' welfare,' said Sergey Kogogin.
