Fuel cell technology company Intelligent Energy will, this month, showcase its cutting edge air cooled fuel cells at the Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Automotive Engineers in Yokohama.

The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE) was founded in 1947 to 'promote scientific culture, expand the industrial economy, and improve the quality of people's lives by furthering the development of automobile science and technology'. The society has more than 40,000 members and is one of the leading scientific communities in Japan.

Japan is a major car manufacturing nation and is also the country leading the charge towards a transition to hydrogen fuel. In April this year, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called for ministers to formulate a strategy to create an emission free 'hydrogen society'. He wants to speed up construction of hydrogen refuelling stations, with the aim of getting 40,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on the road by 2020.

Intelligent Energy has been exhibiting at JSAE for 10 years and sees Japan as a leading nation in the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology. The event is a great arena to showcase the wide range of automotive and other applications that fuel cell technology can be integrated into - from powering vehicles and commercial drones to providing reliable, stationary, emergency and back-up power solutions.

Intelligent Energy will be showcasing its class leading PEM fuel cell technology on the UK Pavilion. As well as the fuel cell stacks, which will include the specially developed lightweight stacks for UAVs, the company will also be displaying a Suzuki Burgman fuel cell scooter, a Gen 4 system ideal for motive two or four wheel vehicles or as a range extender for a battery electric vehicles, and a 1kW fuel cell module to demonstrate how the technology can be scaled to fit different applications.

In addition to the exhibition, Masataka Yamakawa, General Manager for Intelligent Energy Japan, will be presenting on the company's air cooled fuel cell technology.

Come and visit the Intelligent Energy stand on the UK Pavilion at JSAE 2017, Wednesday, May 24 to Friday, May 26.
