North Alabama Medical Center opened the doors of its brand new 485,000-square-foot, 263-bed facility on Thursday, December 6, following a carefully orchestrated and detailed move that was a year in the making. Twenty ambulances and a group of University of North Alabama nursing students assisted the staff of the hospital - formerly known as Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital - in relocating patients to the new campus. The $230 million facility will bring increased access to high quality, state-of-the-art care for residents of northern Alabama and the surrounding region.
