Malaysia Airports Berhad : Dassault Aviation Invests Rm100 Million To Set Up Centre Of Excellence For Business Jet Maintenance At Subang…

11/26/2021 | 09:30am EST

The first in the country, this integrated one-stop maintenance facility will elevate Malaysia's position as the preferred regional business aviation hub.

SUBANG - Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, or more commonly known as Subang Airport will be housing the country's first integrated one-stop maintenance centre for business jets through the latest collaboration between Malaysia Airports and ExecuJet MRO Services (ExecuJet), a subsidiary of Dassault Aviation, that has over 2,000 business aircraft under its maintenance globally. The strategic collaboration will see Dassault Aviation investing up to RM100 million through ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia (ExecuJet) to set up a new MRO facility that will be positioned as Dassault Aviation's Asia 'Centre of Excellence' for MRO. The one-stop centre for business jets will carry out line and heavy maintenance on Dassault, Bombardier and Gulfstream aircraft as well as interior refurbishment.

To be completed by Q4 2023, the new facility will span 144,000 sqft and accommodate up to 45 aircraft per month.

Malaysia Airports Managing Director, Dato' Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, said that Subang Airport is one of the more mature developments under the Aerospace & Aviation cluster of the Group's Aeropolis initiative, "The ultimate aim of Aeropolis is to create an aviation ecosystem that can attract foreign direct investments by global operators. The significant investment that is being made by Dassault Aviation through ExecuJet is a strong indication of the confidence placed by global aviation players in the potential of Malaysia as an aerospace and aviation hub. Malaysia is already an increasingly preferred hub for business aviation and MRO in Asia Pacific and this new integrated facility by ExecuJet will contribute towards making Malaysia the most preferred business aviation hub in the region."

Dato' Iskandar also added that the new facility will open doors to more job opportunities and increase the skilled workforce in the country, "Apart from attracting foreign investment and contributing to the local economy, we will be enhancing human capital by upskilling local talents with technical knowledge and new capabilities. ExecuJet will be investing heavily in training their local workforce."

The strategic collaboration will see Malaysia Airports subleasing 186,000 square feet of land to ExecuJet to build a new state-of-the-art MRO Hangar for private jets at Subang Airport, with space for hangarage, maintenance, workshops and corporate offices. The announcement was made in conjunction with the inaugural Selangor Aviation Show taking place at the Regional Aviation Centre, Subang Airport from 25 to 27 November 2021, organised by Invest Selangor.
