Marathon Petroleum's Detroit refinery raised nearly $155,000 at its 9th annual Motor City Classic golf tournament, benefiting

Southwest Solutions. The organization helps families, individuals and veterans in southwest Detroit improve their quality of life through a variety of services and programs.

'It was important for us to partner with an organization that would benefit our neighbors and friends in the community in which we operate,' said Dave Leaver, Detroit refinery General Manager. 'Southwest Solutions and the team they have assembled impressed us with their organization, breadth of services, and focus on helping improve the lives of those in Detroit. The donation to Southwest Solutions will help move our Detroit community forward.'

More than 300 people, including 65 golf teams (foursomes), business partners and volunteers, participated at Chandler Park Golf Course in Detroit in September. Leaver presented a check for $154,500 to Southwest Solutions' President and CEO Sean de Four after the event, which exceeded its fundraising goal by more than $50,000.

'We feel incredibly privileged and grateful to be the beneficiary of your generosity and want to express our deepest gratitude to Marathon and its business partners for supporting our vital work in the community,' said de Four. 'Each year, we serve over 13,500 families and individuals through programs that improve health, prevent homelessness, provide housing and employment opportunities, as well as supporting a range of other critical needs. Our work extends across the city, and the metro area, but our heart and home are still based where our organization began over 50 years ago - in southwest Detroit.'
