On a per-share basis, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had net income of 77 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 65 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 30 cents per share.

The methanol supplier posted revenue of $916 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $908.5 million.
