SmartestEnergy Australia announced the formalization of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Progressive Developments Goondiwindi Pty Ltd. (in its personal capacity and as trustee for Gunsynd Solar Farm Project Trust), a wholly owned subsidiary of Metis Energy. Metis Energy, headquartered in Singapore, specialises in the development of renewable energy assets across the Asia Pacific region and is developing an Australian renewable energy portfolio. Gunsynd Solar Farm, nestled in Southwest Queensland near Goondiwindi, has a capacity of 111MWp and is able to generate more than 250 GWh of electricity per year.

This is equivalent to abating approximately 150,000 tons of CO2emissions and powering up to 32,000 households in Queensland annually. Early works on the site have started from Second Quarter 2023 and Notice to Proceed was provided to the EPC Contractor in February 2024. Gunsynd Solar Farm will actively engage the local community by creating employment opportunities, supporting local businesses and bolstering the region's growth.

Singapore-based Metis Energy acquired the development rights of Gunsynd Solar Farm in Goondiwindi, South- West Queensland, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Athena Energy Holdings Pte Ltd, on 22 December 2022. The Gunsynd Solar Farm project will serve as the cornerstone of Metis Energy's expanding Australian portfolio. The experience gained during its execution will be instrumental as the Metis Energy team gears up to embark on the Bendemeer Renewable Hub Project, encompassing solar, wind and battery energy storage solutions.

This long-term PPA between SmartestEnergy and Metis Energy marks another commitment to renewable energy development in the Asia Pacific region, supporting the transition to net zero.
