On August 2, Mr. Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals' President and Deputy Party Group Secretary and MCC Chairman, met with the visiting delegation led by Mr. Wanghao, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shannxi Provincial Committee and Secretary of Xi'an Municipal Party Committee.

Both sides reviewed the long-term and friendly history of cooperation in the past and had intensive discussions on further deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperation in the future.

In the meeting, Guo Wenqing extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Mr. Wang Hao, and expressed sincere gratitude to Shannxi province and Xi'an for their long-term support for China Minmetals and MCC. Meanwhile, Guo Wenqing described the achievements made in the development since the strategic restructuring of China Minmetals and MCC, both among the Fortune Global 500. Mr. Guo Wenqing said that after four years since the strategic restructuring, China Minmetals, guided by the strategic goal of 'quadrupling in three steps', has focused on continuous efforts in metal mining, metallurgical development, trade and logistics, finance and real estate, and in consolidating the business system featured by 'four beams and eight columns'. With abundant ore resources such as copper, nickel, lead and zinc, China Minmetals has succeeded in the operation of multiple world-class mines. As the only one, among the central state-owned enterprises (SOEs), qualified in theme park design and construction, MCC has extraordinary expertise and rich experience in metallurgical development, urban traffic, utility tunnel and countryside improvement. With a sound global trading network system, China Minmetals has established multiple large-scale logistics industry parks in China and built an international ore trading center with a volume of 100 million tons in Caodianfei, Tangshan city. On top of that, China Minmetals is one of the three central SOEs holding full financial licenses. China Minmetals has an asset worth RMB 2.16 trillion under control and the revenue in 2019 exceeded RMB 600 billion. In the first half of 2020, in the face of the severe impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and the pressure on economic downturn, China Minmetals fully implemented the polices and plans made by the Central Party Committee of the Communist Party of China as well as the work tasks made by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). By doing so, China Minmetals devoted to pandemic containment and resumption of work as well as other reform and development tasks. As a result, the pandemic containment efforts are kept unchanged and the revenue still continues to grow. And the profit indicators are kept within the anticipated range and there is a steady rise in the performance, making our performance outpace the overall level of the central SOEs.

Guo Wenqing pointed out that China Minmetals and MCC have always attached great importance to the strategic cooperation with Xi'an city, and a deep and firm friendship has been built during the cooperation in the past, thus achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcome. Under the strong support of General Secretary Xi Jinping, Xi'an is facing an excellent opportunity of a new round of major development. China Minmetals is happy to leverage its strengths in broad business scope, strong expertise and substantial practical experience to further advance the comprehensive strategic cooperation between both sides. And while advancing the ongoing projects with high quality, both sides may strengthen the development of base construction at headquarters, municipal transport development and theme park design, as well as enhance the cooperation in trade and logistics, finance and real estate, in an effort to expand the space for cooperation and make innovation in the model of cooperation to contribute more to the high-quality social and economic development of Xi'an city.
