Tokyo, October 11, 2019 - For the second consecutive year, MITSUBISHI MOTORS CORPORATION (MMC) has earned the highest rating of Gold from the Pride Index which evaluates organizations' initiatives to accommodate sexual minorities (LGBTs). MMC first received the Gold rating in fiscal 2018.

The Pride Index is Japan's first index to measure initiatives to accommodate LGBTs and other minorities in workplaces. It was initially formulated in 2016 by Work with Pride, a voluntary organization, which supports the promotion and establishment of diversity management at companies and other organizations.

MMC has held seminars by lecturers to promote understanding of LGBTs at its major business locations in Japan, and distributed original Ally*1 stickers in order to make allies visible within the company. The company also had an exhibit at Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2019*2 where it informed visitors of its initiatives toward diversity and LGBTs. Additionally, MMC partially revised its company rules effective September 1, 2019 to include same-sex marriage in its definition of marriage, enabling all employees to take leave for marriage and life plan leave. Recognizing these initiatives, the Pride Index awarded MMC its highest rating of Gold.

By promoting diversity, MMC strives to create work environment where all employees can be positive and successful.
