• The power company and the foundation will promote activities to rehabilitate people with physical or mental disabilities through equestrian therapies

Earlier today, Gas Natural Castilla y León - the distribution subsidiary of GAS NATURAL FENOSA - and the Carriegos Foundation renewed a partnership agreement under which the two entities will work together (for the ninth year in a row) to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.

The Chairman of the Carriegos Foundation, Santos Llamas, and the General Manager of Gas Natural Castilla y León, Roberto Cámara, signed the agreement in Leon this morning.

Under this arrangement, Gas Natural Castilla y León will support the rehabilitation of people with physical and/or mental disabilities through equestrian therapies, an activity that improves their quality of life, helps them integrate socially and gives them greater autonomy. This type of therapy seeks rehabilitation targets on physical, educational, sensory-motor and cognitive levels.

In turn, the Carriegos Foundation will issue horse-assisted therapy grants for the persons with disabilities who attend the El Caserío equestrian centre every week.

A commitment to society

This agreement forms part of the corporate responsibility commitment by GAS NATURAL FENOSA to promote and support solidarity projects. The company dedicates part of its profits to social activities and maintains a continual dialogue with society in order to understand its requirements and to contribute to them.

The Carriegos Foundation has helped over 2,000 people with disabilities since it was set up in 2003 over the course of 1,900 therapy sessions in total. The entity has also launched various activities to promote culture and sport.

Presence in the region

Gas Natural Castilla y León distributes natural gas to over 421,000 supply points in 117 towns. The company's gas transportation and distribution network in Castile-Leon is over 4,500 kilometres long, meaning that over 63% of the region's population has access to this source of energy and more than half a million homes and businesses in the 117 municipalities enjoy the heating and hot water service provided by the company.
