Ready to Eat NZCS Branded Product Range to Launch at Alibaba Ecosystem Expo

New Zealand Coastal Seafoods Limited ("NZCS", the "Company") (ASX:NZS) is pleased to announce that a newly developed, ready to eat, NZCS branded product range, will be launched at the Alibaba Ecosystem Expo ("Expo") in Melbourne, 27 - 28 March 2020.

The ready to eat NZCS branded product range consists of Cooked Ling Maw, Cooked Paua (Abalone) and a powdered Collagen Ling Maw nutraceutical product, all of which will be sold direct to consumers in NZCS retail packaging. It should be noted that no other New Zealand seafood producers are currently offering ready to eat Ling Maw products.

The Alibaba Ecosystem Expo provides the opportunity for brands and businesses to take advantage of the rapidly growing Chinese e-commerce market. By exhibiting at the Expo, NZCS will be able to connect with key people from Alibaba and its ecosystem of partners, with consumers able to purchase NZCS's ready to eat products at the Expo, providing the Company with immediate market feedback.

In line with the Company's strategy to potentially expand revenues streams, the ready to eat NZCS branded product range has added greater depth to the existing product line.

Importantly, the Expo also provides the opportunity for NZCS's products to be sold through leading Chinese e-commerce platforms, including Alibaba owned TaoBao, TMall Global and Alibaba's brick and mortar retail chains, providing a significant opportunity for NZCS to enter the growing Chinese market.

Rising consumer spending power and an enthusiasm for online shopping have contributed to the growth of retail sales in China, which was forecasted to increase by 3.5% to US$5.291 trillion during 2019. With retail ecommerce sales forecasted to expand 27.3%, reaching US$1.935 trillion, or 36.6% of total retail sales, China's transformation presents an unprecedentedopportunity for Australian and New Zealand businesses.1

China's middle-class population is projected to exceed 700 million by 2020, more than twice the size of the entire U.S. population and more than 27 times the size of Australia.2 In terms of ecommerce, Alibaba accounted for the highest percentage of retail sales in 2019, taking in 55.9%of retail ecommerce sales.
