Orange Health Service's COVID-19 response team is now receiving free family meals at the end of each shift, sponsored by Newcrest Mining's Cadia operations, to support these health professionals and their families, as well as providing patronage to local catering companies.

Working closely with the Orange Health Service, Cadia became aware that the health professionals in the COVID-19 response team were required to isolate at home following each shift, meaning they had no opportunity to stop for groceries on the way home from work or pick up dinner.

Acting General Manager, Aaron Brannigan, said that Cadia decided to step in and show its support for the valuable work of these health professionals by providing them with family meals, provided by local catering companies and delivered to the hospital to be taken home at the end of their shift.

'The health and safety of our people and the community is our most important focus and through sponsoring the provision of these meals, we hope to support the work of the COVID-19 response team through helping care for the members of this team and their families,' Aaron said.

This initiative is part of Newcrest's Community Support Fund, which is providing financial support to its host communities to assist them with the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first round of meals is being provided by Delish Catering and going forward, the catering provider will be facilitated by Orange360 and rotated regularly to support a range of local businesses in the community.
