Nexans has won the first tender under the TenneT framework agreement awarded in April 2023.

This project covers the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables for the grid connection systems of the BalWin3 and LanWin4 offshore wind farms.

These cables will enable the transmission of a total of 4 Gigawatts of offshore wind power from the North Sea to Wilhelmshaven in Germany (Lower Saxony).

A new XLPE 525 kV HVDC cable technology will be used for the project.

Pascal Radue, Nexans Executive Vice President Generation and Transmission, says: 'This contract reinforces our leading position in Europe's energy transition, and we are proud to partner with TenneT to build a sustainable future.'
