New Year's Message from the President
I wish you all a Happy New Year.
In 2020, Nippon TV topped the charts in the All Day, Golden Time, and Prime Time categories to capture the annual individual viewer ratings Triple Crown title for the tenth consecutive year. This achievement was made possible by the support of our countless viewers, to whom I extend my sincerest gratitude.
Unprecedented circumstances that saw COVID-19 cases rise in Japan and around the world continued throughout 2020.
With a renewed sense of responsibility as a news organization that delivers fair and accurate information, we provided reports on COVID-19 that included detailed coverage of the spread of infections and the situation on the ground at healthcare facilities. Limited by restrictions such as having to cancel shootings on location, we nevertheless worked tirelessly to create heartwarming moments for our populace by airing dramas and entertainment programs.
COVID-19 is affecting the television broadcasting business severely. Realizing the necessity of establishing a stable management foundation in order to fulfill our missions as a broadcaster, we developed a new growth strategy last November designed to pave the way for the Nippon TV Group to make remarkable advancements in the 2020s. It is our resolve to drive our businesses based on this strategy.
The Nippon TV Group will strive to win the support of viewers and corporations as we stay focused on our missions and continue to take on challenges. I humbly ask for your further support and encouragement in 2021.
