"Two premium European marques want to use our platform and a deal will be signed with one of them, a more premium brand than us, during (my Europe trip beginning Tuesday)," Yin said during a livestreaming event promoting new flagship electric SUV Exlantix ET under its Exeed brand.

The new model is developed on Chery's E0X high-end electric platform.

In addition to the two brands with which Chery is finalising partnerships, the state-owned automaker is in talks with two other brands over possible team-ups, according to Yin.

Chery Auto is nearing a deal to start making cars in Spain, its first manufacturing site in Europe, the Spanish government and lead negotiator EV Motors said last week, with the talks focused on Chery producing vehicles at the plant that Japanese carmaker Nissan shut down in 2021.
