Nordic Entertainment : NENT Group launches `We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' as next Viaplay Original

· German-language series based on Christiane F.'s bestselling autobiography
· `We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' directed by Philipp Kadelbach (the International Emmy Award-winning `Generation War')
· NENT Group to premiere at least 40 original productions in 2021

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the Nordic region's leading streaming company, will premiere the German-language drama series `We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' as its next Viaplay Original. A powerful tale of six teenagers who find each other in the intoxicating clubs and underground parties of Berlin, the show is based on the bestselling autobiography by Christiane F., which was previously made into an acclaimed cult film featuring David Bowie. `We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' will launch on NENT Group's Viaplay streaming service in spring 2021.

First published in 1979, Christiane F.'s uncompromising account of her years as a teenage drug addict and prostitute, and of the youth culture around Berlin's Zoologischer Garten station, triggered a public debate in Germany and beyond. `We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' brings together a talented cast of first-time actors for a series-length adaptation that explores its characters' struggles, friendships and search for identity.

The eight-part series (German title: `Wir Kinder Vom Bahnhof Zoo'; Swedish title: `Vi barn från Bahnhof Zoo') stars Jana McKinnon, Lea Drinda, Jeremias Meyer, Michelangelo Fortuzzi, Lena Urzendowsky and Bruno Alexander, and is written by Annette Hess (`Weissensee'). Philipp Kadelbach, who helmed the International Emmy Award-winning `Generation War', is the series' director and creative producer.

In the early eighties, Uli Edel's now iconic feature film opened a crack into an unknown scenery, which not many knew even existed. This is what makes it timeless. `We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' focuses on the here and now, the present, the atmospheric mood of the time, the spontaneous eruption of emotions. It's an anthem to bravery, the thirst for adventure and reckless self-abandonment."

`We Children from Bahnhof Zoo' is produced by Constantin Television in co-production with Amazon and in co-operation with NENT Group. Additional co-producers are Wilma Film and Cattleya. The series has received support from Creative Europe MEDIA.
