Nuvve Holding Corp. on Wednesday said it would expand its proprietary vehicle-to-grid platform to help school districts and utilities in California and Colorado accelerate the electrification of school buses.

The company said the Cajon Valley Union School District in San Diego County, Calif., will install five of its vehicle-to-grid, or V2G, charging stations as the district moves to electrify its bus fleet. Nuvve also said four more chargers are being commissioned as part of a plan to expand the electrification program to diesel warehouse vehicles.

In Colorado, Durango School District 9-R worked with La Plata Electric Association to buy and install a fully electric school bus and a Nuvve V2G DC 60kW charging station. The district and the member-owned, nonprofit, electric distribution cooperative used a grant aimed at improving the state's air quality, Nuvve said, adding the installation will take place later this year.

To date, Nuvve said, it has deployed over 120 V1G and V2G charging stations for electric school buses across North America.
